The Thompson's Est. 12/20/2003

This is the site of Jennifer and Keith Thompson. Their romance began their Junior Year of high school (1993)and ended up in marriage on December 20, 2003. Throughout their 10 year (OMG! 10 years?!?!?) courtship, they grew apart, and then together, and then apart and then (oh, well you get the drift)…… but in the end, a wonderful romantic friendship turned into a strong partnership that they both believed, would stand the test of time. And then....came Avery Grace :)

Avery and Sophia

Mommy and Avery visited our friends Andrea and Sophia this past Wednesday evening. Sophia (who was born a week and 1/2 after Avery) and Avery haven't had an official playdate since they were WEEKS old (see first photo). They were truly in awe of each other and had a great time playing with many many toys that Sophia has. Thanks for the fun time, guys! We can't wait til the summertime to play outside :)

Dancing with the STARS

Ok everyone! I don't watch much TV but the new season on my favorite show starts Monday.

I cannot believe some of the people that are going to be dancing. Especially Paul McCartney's ex-wife, Heather Mills. Umm!?!?! How does that work?

For all you who like to chat with me around the water cooler about my favorite shows (Heroes is over now, guys.....), I'll be watching Dancing with the Stars on Monday night, how about you?

Can this be over already?

My BFF, Lisa and I are all about celeb gossip. Usually I am all about finding out the latest dirt on my favorite (and not so favorite) celebs. What really has me upset lately is all the hub-bub surrounding Anna Nicole Smith and her recent departure from this Earth. Although I found Ms. Smith to be quite irritating in life, I find the people trying to capitalize on her death even MORE irritating. Let's try to remember, people, she was a mother who left behind a sweet 6 month old little girl. At the very least, our society should be attempting to protect this little girl from what she will read about all these horrible events when she is old enough to go digging for information on who she is and where she came from. Let's try to be a little more sympathetic to the poor baby for goodness sake! I think I am over-empathizing with this story as Anna Nicole delivered DanniLynn close to the day that I delivered Avery.....I just feel bad for that little girl and what lies ahead for her :( Is that weird?

Where I belong.....

Hello all Thompson-blog readers.....I know there aren't many of you, but for the ones that there are, I really appreciate you checking in every once in a while with our little family blogsite. Although most of the posts are Avery-inspired, I like to take some time to speak about things that are important in our little world.

Enter Spiritus Christi Church . Ever since Keith and I started going to this institution, I can honestly say that I enjoy going to church again. It feeds my soul and is a safe place to gather with individuals that share my thoughts and beliefs. Growing up in the Catholic faith, I have never really felt like I have belonged to my religion. Well now, I do not only feel like I belong, I feel like I fully participate in each and every mass. I feel closer to God than ever, and my family gets to share all of this with me.

What a blessing!!! Thank you God for sending me to such a wonderful place.

My new favorite blogsite

If you are a working mom......in any capacity, YOU HAVE GOT TO check out this blogsite! It is a great day to keep up to date on politics relating to mommy issues, easy receipes and general support for working mothers. It has truly been an inspiration to me. I strive to be an "in the know" mom all while caring for my, sometimes challenging, 6 1/2 month old. Although Avery is a HUGE chunk in my world, I also like to remind myself every once in a while that I am also needing to be a partake in the larger world around me.

Avery's First Wedding

Avery had an exciting day this past Sunday when she attended her Amma Chris and Grandpa Dave's wedding at the Inn on Broadway. What a fun evening had by all! Avery got to wear her first "poofy" dress and was well behaved. She was a trooper and enjoyed meeting many of her extended "Thompson/Brunette" family members for the first time. Although she looks quite serious in all the photos, we think she had a really fun time!

Amma Chris and Grandpa Dave have been dating for a long time now, and G-pa Dave has been there since Avery was born. He always gets a certain "twinkle" in his eye when he holds Avery and she just adores him right back! The wedding ceremony was filled with LOVE and you could definitely feel the happiness, from all who attended, in the air. Welcome to the family G-pa Dave!!! We all are so blessed to have you in our lives :)

Some things Avery's up to now @ 6 1/2 months......

We always find miss Chooch on her tummy now after naps and in the morning. She has decided that no matter how many times mommy and daddy put her on her BACK to sleep, she will flip over and rest on her tummy.

Sitting up is going well. She still needs a pillow behind her because she gets a little excited, at times, and arches her back which causes her to topple backwards......but she's getting there.

Avery's personality is really starting to shine. She is one of the most gentle babies I know. She always leans in to touch my face when I am feeding her bottle to her and she loves to snuggle! She has just started noticing her new "big" friend, Shilo. She flaps her arms and tries to reach out and touch her whenever she walks by.....she just doesn't understand that sucking on Shilo's fur is kind of gross :(

All in all, I am so very proud to have such a spectacular daughter. With being "the oldest" girl in a household with 2 FT working parents, I sometimes think I missed out on a lot of my childhood. I grew up WAY too fast! Avery is allowing me to see the world through a child's eyes again.....and it is wonderful! Can't wait til the summer-time!!!!! Get me out of this house!

Bad to the BONE......

While Avery and I were out on one of our Wal-Mart shopping excersions, I decided that I wanted to start wearing a bandana around the house while I was cleaning, to keep the hair out of my face (hell! Jo from the Real Housewives of Orange County wears one and she looks cute). After trying one on, I realized, I'm NO JO!!!! I looked over at Avery and her thinning hairline and thought, how cute would that be! I got it on her head, and my assumption was correct. Totally cute! I started singing the song "Bad to the Bone" and every time I would do the babababa BAAAAD part, she would crack up hysterically. I have it on video if you don't believe me......PRICELESS!

She wore an ittsy bitsy, teeny weeny......

pink and green checked bikini :) And how cute was she?

Avery and mommy are taking swim classe at the Westside YMCA every Saturday from 11-11:30. Avery is the only girl in the class out of 12 bouncing babies, ages 6 months to 3 years. While all the boys in the class are splashing in the water, Avery is daintily skimming the water's surface. She is SUCH a girl! Mommy was a little traumatized to get into a bathing suit in front of a whole lotta people, but easily got over it after she realized how fun it would be :) Happy swimming, Avery Grace!
